The XA-10 is a nice camcorder with good higher end features like dual XLR inputs and dual SD card slots. Low light performance is delivered in locations as dim as 1.5 lux. The more professional XF-100 uses dual CF card slots and delivers 4-2-2 color mode, with double the color range of the XA-10.

Still haven’t seen a video about the AX-10 worth watching to make my pick. Everything has been consumers toying around with it at home..
I wanted to see this camera in a real professional scenario at 24fps since its a “native” 24p shooter.
I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from this camcorder XA10. Can anyone tell me if the movie files import SEAMLESSLY to Mac applications? iMovie 11, Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express and the newest Final Cut Pro X. Appreciate your feedback.
i don´t know how much money you would like to spend for the shotgum mikrophone but i´m looking forward to buy the rode ntg2. i know that this is even used by some german television channels:)

4:2:2 does not – as stated at 2:45 – give you a “double color range”. It will make every second pixel in a frame have distinct chroma values, whereas AVCHD uses the 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, meaning that every fourth pixel in one frame will have distinct chroma.
Please get your semantics right. “Color range” sounds great, but it can’t even differ from one video to another. EVERY vid’s/image’s colors range goes from 0-360 Hue, 0-100 Saturation and 0-100 Brightness.

Great video .. I’m looking to buy the XF100 pretty soon to do some doco work and wondering about which shotgun mike to buy to best suite the XF100 .. I see the Azden brand that looks interesting. I’ve noted the models SGM-110 and SGM-1x that review ok .. 1x comes with a stabilizing bracket which i don’t think would be utilised.. Any ideas on brands ..models ie. the way to go???
