yes but (sadly) the dumb-asses in congress will put the higher taxes on the Middle class instead of the wealthy.

  2. HuginTonks says:

Maybe higher taxes would be one way to solve some of the problems?

  3. veganath says:

Life Expectancy stats are skewed due to extremely high infant death mortality rates pre industrialization!!

Pre industrialization, people(who survived birth) lived longer & healthier(chronic disease free) lives than they do today.

that’s because centralized power is bad (either political power, or economical) now comunism isn’t only what USSR was or china is. it is also Anarchism never forget that.

  5. RebMightyMouse says:

How so? No one mentions a free market the entire time. In his other talks he mentions that centralized control by communist dictatorship held China back, but that’s far different than a socialized economy, or any other economy really. Sounds like you don’t like numbers that don’t fit your world view.

  6. win za says:

This and other aspect are included on the horizontal axis on the Web site

  7. win za says:

There is adjustment by purchasing power also.

  8. utkusarioglu says:

    logarithmic income, linear lifespan

  9. TuomasHietanen says:

    Lifespan is interesting…
Income is not: The value and total amount of USD is changing, so it is miss-leading to use it here as a constant axis.

  10. MrTimoRii says:

    Latest EU numbers are here:
    appsso eurostat ec europa eu

In 2009 Luxemburg was in lead and Denmark as second. Norway should be somewhere between the two of them.
If you look at purchasing power instead, then Netherlands gets just a little bit ahead of Denmark, and Luxemburg stays much ahead of other EU countries.

  11. Kirkburn says:

no, that was the Spanish FLU.

  12. fp2015 says:

all of this is sadly true, but it has to do with different reasons. one, the US debt, our government can not pay this off because of politics and war. two, us falling behind on education, all of those countries that are catching up to the US have better education than us. and three, the US government itself, with the government being so corrupted, we can not get rid of the debt, which in turn causes the government to cut back on everything, which then causes kids to be less educated.

  13. choudechou says:

Richest country per capita is Qatar not Norway. I think Norway ranked 4th or 5th in 2010!

  14. Biel7318 says:

this is propaganda for free market economy, pure BS.

  15. sludgiebear says:

@TheBestinTest I see things as they are. :)

  16. futharkable says:

    @eukbos
The European country has got to be Norway, as it is already known as the richest country in the world. (per capita, that is.)
    And yes, im Norwegian ;)

  17. eukbos says:

lol, “that was the spanish flood”….

I’d like to know which were the european and asian country that were ahed of US in 2010

  18. sludgiebear says:

We wont all live in the “healthy wealthy corner” because those with more power will not allow it. They will want to remain on top. It’s the capitolist way – take all you can, give as little back as you can.

China is catching up only because it started to become capitolist!

These statistics, along with the narration, reflect nothing but propaganda and false ideologies – false hope for the world.

  19. AndrewPPrice says:

That was fascinating! It really flips the approach usually taken by the news and shows the economy in a much brighter light. It’s great to see the poorer countries lifestyle and lifespan improving. Three cheers for humanity :D

  20. ViraIVideos says:

Statistics is a gem, and the closest thing we have to seeing or predicting the future.

Thanks again Hans for an amazing vid :)
