Discovering Brazil, as Brazil rediscovers itself

As Brazil is increasingly being recognised as one of new drivers of the global economy so Brazilian companies are themselves becoming aware of the new Brazilian consumer. With the help of the good folk at Loducca we put together a small film to try and explain some of the processes which have made Brazil one of the most interesting and dyamic emerging economies of the 21st Century.

The global economy is back on path: It is heading towards a slower but more sustainable phase of growth, says the World Banks “Global Economic Prospects” report for 2011. The global GDP will slow to 3.3 % in 2011 and then increase to 3.6% in 2012.

So we’ll have a large community of foreign workers? So what? Let them come! There is room for everyone, there is a lot of work for everyone. The success example of São Paulo in particular came in a large part from “large communities of foreign workers” who taught us new ways of doing things, brought us new customs, new foods, gave us a lot in economy and culture, and we should be very thankful. No way I’m going to be parochial and xenophobic in the era of globalization. Welcome everyone!

While in the 80′s and ’90 Brazilians tried to seek a home and job in the US and Europe, now it’s the reverse, it’s the payback, educated foreigners have been looking for an opportunity of job in Brazil, in particular ’cause there aren’t qualified Brazilian workers. Our government should improve education conditions and prepare our workers for future jobs… or else we’ll soon have a large community of foreigner workers. (GILBERTO SAUGEN do Brasil)
