    Kings suck

Dude, the ref can clearly see the puck under Marty from that distance, and obviously he has a good rear view of it, as well as good eyesight. The thick goalie leg pads are customized to defend the front of the goalie, not on the backside of his legs. Therefore, the ref can see the puck, so he will not blow the whistle, bcuz he knows the puck’s still in play, UNLESS Marty falls on it or gloves it.
the puck is not dead, so the players get to battle for it, etc etc.

  3. Snapscape says:

Look where the official is standing. How can he see the puck from that angle when it’s under Marty’s pad? He would have to be standing in front, not at the back, to see the puck. When the official loses sight of the puck, the whistle has to be blown. It’s a common rule. The official just “thinks” the puck is still live because Martinez keeps banging at it and assumes the puck is in front of Marty’s pad, not under. There’s no rule where the goalie has to collapse on it.

  4. DICACIO1 says:

really? LOL the puck is not “dead” just bcuz its floating under the goalie pads… the goalie has to fall down or collapse on it and glove it for a whistle to stop play. the ref can clearly see the puck is still LIVE, in play.

notice the pro commentators say nothing about a “dead puck” or “missed whistle” ?

    Blow the fuckin whistle

  6. bobbydowns says:

From former ref Kerry Fraser: “When a player makes contact with the goalie’s pad, glove or body I knew the attacker was not striking at a loose puck but making some attempt to dislodge a puck that was covered. Once Dwight King took a couple of good whacks at Brodeur’s pad and the goalie’s position was altered the whistle would have been moving to my mouth…”

    Devils are away beter

“Dwight Kwing once! Dwight Kwing twice! Dwight Kwing three times!!”

  9. SiezeGFX says:

Its their fault they didn’t keep composure and let the kings make them their bitches. Go Kings Go. NO HATE TO THE DEVILS, JUST THEIR ANNOYING ASS FANS! ( I KNOW NOT ALL OF THEM ARE!!)

  10. d3rkaderk4 says:

    I can sense your butthurt.

  11. sergeanthugostiglitz says:

i was surprised the whistle wasn’t blown. the final score should probably have been 3-0 instead of 4-0.

  12. jkappianaq says:

Well Dustin Brown going to do something that Wayne Gretzky couldn’t do….let the LA Kings win a Stanley Cup!

  13. Snapscape says:

I don’t know about their defense. The opportunities they gave NJ were pretty good. Quick bailed them out many times. Their puck handling and passing needs work. They either miss-handle passes or pass out of reach. They need to stop screwing around in their own zone and try carry the puck out instead of passing it when there’s no forced play. They’re lucky that Marty is passed his prime and Quick is on a roll.

  14. onbeskoftekinkel says:

    wow that was fast lol.
That may be true but iirc shots were fairly even. Kings did much more with the puck when they had it, and played smothering defense.

  15. Snapscape says:

Maybe in scoring, but they spent most of the game in their own end.

  16. onbeskoftekinkel says:

This goal may have been questionable, but the game wasn’t. Kings dominated.

  17. redwineisfine says:

It still doesn’t change the fact that Marty is dead weight and totally over rated now.

Ten years ago he had talent today he’s just another over the hill knuckle head holding on to what was rather than what is.

Marty blew this series in all three games…hahahahaha..

  18. HowBrownPhiladelphia says:

    Over rated goaltender ?
This may be the first time that L.A. wins a cup in what…50 years?
The only good thing about the Kings winning (assuming they hold on ) is that three ex-Flyers get to hoist the Cup….
The Kings will wind up like the Flyers…two centuries between winning Cups.
    Enjoy it while you can.

  19. hytektwo says:

Anyone who feels this was a goal doesn’t know the game of hockey. Shame on that ref changed the rest of the game. Devils played pissed and agravated. Way to go Ref hope the Kings fall on there faces.

  20. lhsbandfreak11 says:

If you look very closely at the replay, you see Martinez’s stick come in at the last second to poke in the puck in. The goal should still stay with Martinez.

  21. redwineisfine says:

Wah devils wah…. Your team was lucky and hardly had a challenge to play a formidable team. Now your over the hill over rated goaltender has finally blossomed into the cry baby loser he is. Wah wah wah wah… Time to retire Marty.

  22. sTyLnK says:

What’s really surprising is that the Devils aren’t going high on Quick. The only time they are is when they go for tips. I mean look at the save Quick made on Clarkson. Low blocker. That was the perfect opportunity to go HIGH on him. You aren’t going to beat this guy down low, so you think they’d learn by now.

  23. sTyLnK says:

Bad break for the Devils, but really this wasn’t the turning point in the game. It was the 5 on 3 because that gave the Kings a lot of jump afterward.
